Our standard three week building course will rebuild your confidence, help you plan and set life goals. You will be shown the basics of building and construction by one of our highly experienced tutors. Most importantly, you will come away from this course with the knowledge and confidence to use tools and carry out building work. We have regular intake schedule for our Building courses and our current course offerings are in Auckland and Wellington.

On this course you will gain a driver licence upgrade, Site Safe Passport, Construct Safe Ticket and Working at Heights Ticket, with jobs ready at the end of your training. To be eligible for our course, you must be on a Work and Income job seekers benefit, pass a drug test, be double vaccinated, be based in the Wellington or South Auckland catchment area and available for the duration of the course.

Once you are on course, we will provide PPE gear, Soft Skills Sessions (via our online learning platform), provide or update your CV, alongside Job Seeking Assistance and support to transition into the workforce. Candidates on this course are eligible where relevant for a Class 1 licence upgrade.

Job Support

Once you have completed our course, we will search our jobs pool to match you with a suitable employer and find you a job in your area. Finally, once you have gained employment, we will keep in touch for at least six months.

A job in the construction industry can lead you to a whole lot of career opportunities further down the line. The logical first step you would likely want to take is to complete a building apprenticeship.

Once you have a building or construction job, you can sign up with a training organisation like BCITO to start your building apprenticeship. Now is a perfect time to do this because the government is offering fees free building apprenticeships until 2023.

Later, you may be able to become a building surveyor, a project manager or a foreman. The opportunities in the construction industry are endless.
