Class 2, 4 & 5 Truck Licence

What's expected?

If you’ve always wanted to get your truck licence and become a truck driver, Kiwi Can Do has the perfect opportunity for you. Our FREE truck licence course will get you your Class 2 truck driver’s licence, with our intake schedule based on region, but running at least fortnightly.

To be eligible for our Class 2 truck licence course, you must be on a Work and Income job seekers benefit, pass a drug test, be double vaccinated, hold a current Full Class 1 licence for 6+ months, have less than 70 demerit points and have a valid DL9 Drivers Medical paid for by Kiwi Can Do.

To take part in our Class 4 truck licence course, you must be on a Work and Income job seekers benefit, pass a drug test, be double vaccinated, hold a current Full Class 2 licence for 6+ months or 3 months if over 25, have less than 70 demerit points and have a valid DL9 Drivers Medical paid for by Kiwi Can Do. Intake schedule based on region and demand.

By arrangement only, our Class 5 truck licence course is available, with candidates required to have a solid job opportunity to be accepted.

Alongside being a registered job seeker, trainees must pass a drug test and be double vaccinated.

Once you are on course, we will provide PPE gear, Soft Skills Sessions (via our online learning platform), provide or update your CV, alongside Job Seeking Assistance and support to transition into the workforce.

Become a Truck Driver with our Training Course

Our truck driver training course is NZTA approved. This means you will not have to hold your learners licence for 6 months before gaining your full. In short, you can have no previous truck driving experience. As a result, you will come away with your full truck licence by completing our training course.

Careers in Truck Driving

Once you have gained your full truck drivers licence, you will have many career opportunities. Additionally, you will then be able to get traffic control training and qualifications.

Once you have completed your truck driving course, we will search our jobs pool to match you with a suitable employer and find you a job in truck driving in your area. For example civil construction jobs or a career in road building. Finally, once you have gained employment, we will keep in touch for at least six months.
