Joanne hails from Hamilton and completed her full Class 2 licence with Kiwi Can Do in 2021, which in turn provided a stepping stone into full-time employment with Fulton Hogan.

Throughout her time with us, Joanne appreciated the support provided from her peers, Kiwi Can Do staff and tutors that helped her gain the knowledge she needed to secure sustained employment. She acknowledges this support was what she needed to get her life back on track.

Looking ahead to the future, Joanne’s goal is to work as a Foreman or Leading Hand, with the hope that her employer provides an opportunity to upskill once she gets more experience under her belt.

Joanne is currently part of the Fulton Hogan Road Construction team as a Class 4 Driver and Heavy Machine Operator. There are plenty of local projects to keep her occupied, as she works on the Base Ohakea runway, Raglan road rebuilds, Awakino Gorge and the road build at Drury Quarry.

Joanne truly believes that doing something you love and enjoy is the gateway to igniting your passions and expanding your knowledge. She appreciates that she can now wake up each and every day knowing that she has a purpose in life, which helps with achieving her short and long-term goals.
